Introspective, March 2023

"This project explores the theme of endings and beginnings, utilizing nature to do so.  Visual inspiration came from memento mori artworks of the 17th century as well as pictorialist photography. The project was influenced by Ted Chiang’s novella, Story of Your Life. To present the idea of the past and present intermingling, and endings leading to beginnings, the artist used archival imagery to frame her contemporary photographs, joining the past and present in two framed images. In the centre of this series is a dying flower, referencing memento mori works."-
